Tyler grinned. I sighed. We gathered up the last of the birds and climbed back up the tree.When we got to where we were sleeping, we found that Meg had started a fire.
“Don’t burn down the forest again, Meg!” I said teasingly, holding back a smile.
Meg looked hurt, so I smiled at her to let her know that I was just kidding. I handed her the bag of birds. She looked inside, and her eyes lit up.
“I’ll be able to make something really good with these!” She exclaimed happily.
Jeremy was also really excited.
“Meat!” He yelled, excited. This was the first time in awhile that we have eaten anything other than vegetables.
I shushed him.
“You might make other animals attack us!” I scolded him.
Then, we heard a long, terrifying growl.
