Every year on spring break, my family goes on a vacation to Colorado! (We’ve only been doing it for a few years though.) It’s actually not just my family that goes, we go with our friends and their families. This year we went with four families. We usually rent a big house to stay in and that is what we did this year.
It takes a long time to get to Colorado, usually while we are driving there I take a nap, draw or sketch a little, or I play games on my Kindle Fire. Once we get to our house, we unpack and just hang out. The next day we get our gear on because we are going skiing! Once we get to the lodge type thing, we have to rent our skis. It took a long time to do that because my whole family needs to rent ski boots, skis, helmets, and lift tickets. We also have to enroll my little brother, Easton in ski school. When we finally have all are stuff, we ride up the ski lift until were on a slope. If you’ve ever been skiing you know that ski slopes are ranked on how hard they are by color, green means it’s an easy slope, blue means it’s a little bit harder than a green, blue-black means it’s more for advanced skiers, and black is the hardest. Usually I ski blues. We ski down all sorts of different runs and go up all sorts of different lifts, but then we realize it’s four O’clock, the ski lifts close, and we have to go. That doesn’t stop us, when we get home we play in the snow, we go sledding, and finally we come inside for some hot chocolate!
The next day we went skiing again! It took a lot less time because we didn’t have to rent all our ski gear. This time we ate lunch on the mountain! It was so fun! After lunch we went skiing some more, but this time on some runs we’ve never took before, like this one run called Sundance. There was some moguls on that run, so it was a little harder than it should of been. Moguls are like a bunch of bumps that you have to ski around. You have to be pretty good at turning. Fortunately, the moguls were easier than most moguls. By the time we got back from that run, it was time to go.
The next morning I wake up and wonder why everybody’s not rushing around and getting ready to go skiing. Then I realize that we are not going skiing today, we are going tubing! Since I didn’t have to get ready just yet, I decided to play a game of cards with my friend, Teagan. We play different card games all morning until my mom tells me that we have to get ready to go tubing. I slip on my stuff and get ready go. The drive to the tubing place seems like forever, because I’m so excited. Once we finally get there, I pick up a tube, take the magic carpet up to the top, and before I knew it I was tubing down the mountain! It felt so fast and fun! When I got to the bottom, I was ready to go up and do it again! I was going up and down the tubing mountain-hill thingy so many times that when my mom said it was time to go I thought she was crazy it had only been like fifteen minutes! It turns out it had been two hours! Time flies when your having fun!
It is the last day that we get to spend in Colorado, so we try to make it super fun! We get up, get ready, and go skiing! When we get home from skiing, we go outside, go sledding, and build a snow fort. After a long day of fun we come inside for some card games and more hot coco! Before we go home though, we go to a shop and buy some souvenirs. I buy a T-shirt that says Colorado on it. Finally the day is over and we start driving home. What a great vacation!
