- This is a Picture of a Water Bear
Water bears are creatures about the size of the period at the end of this sentence, that look like aliens to me. Though scientists think that they may be more alien than most things. Water bears have been sent to space and have come back with over half of the water bears just fine after a quick hydration. While in space, the water bears were subjected to extreme temperatures, radiation, and other things that most life forms cannot take. Water bears can also spend years with out water though are attracted to water and are found in areas where it is usually wet. So next time you see any thing in a wet or damp place that looks like dirt, it might just be a water bear.

That is so interesting, Amelia! I have never heard of these before. They do kind of look like a polar bear that is on all fours.
They look so cute! I can not even imagine an animal that small. Great information!
This is an amazing post! I love the topic! The picture is also neat, and I agree with you, they do look like aliens. Water bears sound like interesting creatures. It’s hard for me to imagine an animal that small withstanding something that most other life forms cannot.

That is a greta idea Chloe! How do you think of these things? Nio would be sort of like a test monkey I guess! But then again, it would be very scary if you were that small and you saw a human being who was five feet tall! Think about that!
I think that is really interesting. That is really small for a bear, (hee, hee, hee), but seriously, I think that it is really cool. So, they can live in space? Really cool!
No one is sure if they could live in space for a long time, but they could kind of go on vacation in space.
I have this book called “The Search for WondLa” and it has a water bear in it. Although it’s a giant water bear.
I don’t know how it got giant.

Does the water bear have eight legs? Gross, well sort of. Anyways, people must step on them all the time! I wonder if they die when that happens, or if nothing happens? Oh well, I guess it would hard since they are so tiny!
