I spun around, and was face to face with a pig. A wild boar, to be exact. It was very hairy, and had vicious teeth. Oh, and the wild boar was suspended about ten feet off the ground, supported by muddy brown wings. Yes, a flying pig. If I wasn’t so busy concentrating on the teeth right in front of my face, threatening to bite off my head, it would have been really funny.
“Back away!” I hissed to the rest of the Floaters. They obeyed, but there was only a bit of room in the tree.
The boar let out another roar.
“Hand me the birds, Meg.” I whispered. She slowly handed me the sack of dead birds.
I reached my hand into the bag, grabbed a bird, and held it out to the boar. It snatched it out of my hand.
I fed the boar until it was satisfied, it flew into our camp and curled up, asleep.
Tyler was smiling at me.
” I thought it would eat you for sure, Gwen!” Jeremy said excitedly. “Can we keep it?”
“Sure!” Tyler replied.
After a dinner of what was left of the birds, we put out the fire and got ready to go to sleep.
As I crawled into a hammock, I remembered something.
“Tyler?” I whispered.
“You owe me five dollars. Pigs can fly!” I fell asleep laughing.
