Twister Part 7

I was sure of it! It was a twister! My heart raced! My jaw dropped to the ground! All I could do was gape at the monster in front of me. I finally came to my senses when one of the hens I was holding laid an egg. I looked around at my surroundings. My mother always told me that if there ever was a twister and I was outside, I was to find anything that was deep or underground.

I looked around at my surroundings. Tree, tree, grass, bush…tunnel!

I saw a metal tunnel that went underground. There was a mini-hill, then there was a slope then no further than a couple of feet, there was a sewer like tunnel. It had a fairly large opening. I could fit in it easily, but no one over the age of thirteen could.

I raced to the tunnel. The wind whipped my hair in my face, feeling like a thousand blades. I struggled against the wind to safety. “All most there, keep going”, I said to myself over and over again, trying to gain an ounce of hope for my safety.

I was a foot away from the bush that hid the entrance. The twister was so close! I jumped and I landed in front of the tunnel. I crawled, rocks scraped my arms and knees, and I could feel the dirt covering me by the minute. I made it inside. I turned myself around to face the outside. The twister was a couple yards away from me! I turned myself back around and kept crawling. I went deeper and deeper. The mud on the ground sloshed on my knees. I went so deep, the I couldn’t even feel the wind. I finally got to the back of the tunnel. I could see, but it wasn’t cristyle clear. I could hear the twister over me. I was probably six feet underground, but I could hear it. It was right on top of me, the vibrations shook my body. Then I heard a rumble. I heard rocks falling. I turned back around towards the entrance only to see rocks falling down, blocking the entrance. I scooted back as far as I could for my saftey. I heard the rumble, the thud, the lightening, then I passed out.

I woke up a little later, I looked forwards, the entrance was completely blocked by a wall of rock, branches, material, and mud. I felt a peck at my legs. I looked behind me, I saw two chickens. I was hallucinating! I just knew it!

But then I remembered, I still had the two hens under my arms when I made it inside the tunnel! I picked up one of the hens, and put her under my head as a pillow. She didn’t like it, but I did. She was a mother hen kind of chicken breed. Her feathers were so soft, you could easily forget that it was a chicken!

I went to sleep, with a sharp pain coming from my belly. Not long after that, I woke up screaming! Of course, my scream influenced no one but the two now non-sleeping hens. I then realized the horrible truth.

I was trapped.
